Carers SA presents 5 Ways to Wellbeing: introducing you to five simple & effective ways to improve your psychological and emotional health.

This event is for those who care for a family member or friend who has a disability, is frail aged, has a health condition or illness, mental illness or alcohol or drug related problem, join us for this free Carer Wellbeing event. (Carer only event)

Research from around the world shows you can improve your wellbeing by doing five simple things as part of your day: connect, be active, keep learning, be aware and help others. These simple things enable us to manage better in difficult situations and to live happier and healthier lives.

Join us at the Warrawong Wildlife sanctuary where we will take time to immerse ourselves in amongst the mighty gums, wetlands and rainforest landscapes that make up the sanctuary to share a day of wellness together.

Connecting – over morning tea and lunch

Being Active – exploring the beautiful grounds of the sanctuary

Keep learning – educational session on wellbeing and animal show

Be Aware – taking part in mindfulness session while surrounded by the forest

Help Others – Supporting each others wellbeing by sharing this experience together and supporting the Sanctuary and the animals.

This gentle guided experience, led by Cathryn Stuart of Carers SA is nature based and has been developed to allow you to disconnect from the everyday stress and pressure and remind you that you and your wellbeing are important. It also allows you the opportunity to see and understand the transformative power of nature whilst enjoying some self-care.

Research shows that spending time in nature has benefits including reducing stress hormones in the body, improving mood, reducing worry, improving immune system function, improving concentration, memory and ability to think clearly and increasing our sense of vitality and feeling alive.

Please note : This event involves walking along unsealed, uneven hilly terrain so is not recommended for those who have difficulties with mobility. Also please bring a hat and sunscreen and wear comfortable shoes.

Carers SA will cover the cost of entrance to the sanctuary, the animal show, morning tea and lunch.
