A service where LGBTIQA+ Carers are respected, heard and supported.
Carers SA is committed to being a service where LGBTIQA+ Carers are respected, heard and supported. Our staff complete LGBTIQA+ inclusion training.
LGBTQIA+ Carers come from diverse backgrounds and may provide unpaid care and support to a partner, friend, family member or someone in their chosen family.
Every caring experience is different, and LGBTQIA+ Carers may have additional considerations alongside their caring role. This can include feeling socially isolated, past experiences of discrimination, or difficulty finding services where they feel comfortable, understood and respected.
How Carers SA supports LGBTQIA+ Carers
Free support, whatever your caring situation looks like.
Carers SA is committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment where LGBTQIA+ Carers feel respected, heard and supported.
We recognise the diversity of families and relationships within LGBTQIA+ communities, including the importance of partners, friends and chosen family. Our focus is on understanding your individual caring situation and connecting you with support that meets your needs.
LGBTQIA+ Carers can access the range of free Carers SA services and supports available to Carers across South Australia.
Connecting with LGBTQIA+ communities
Working with LGBTQIA+ organisations across South Australia.
Carers SA works closely with LGBTQIA+ organisations and community groups across South Australia to better understand the experiences of LGBTQIA+ Carers, raise awareness of available support and strengthen connections within the community.
Our team also participates in LGBTQIA+ community events and outreach activities throughout the year, creating opportunities for Carers to meet us in familiar community spaces, have a conversation and learn more about the support available through Carers SA.
Through these connections, we aim to make it easier for LGBTQIA+ Carers to recognise their caring role, connect with Carers SA and know where to turn when they need support
